This is at the entry of Notre Dame, as viewed from the bridge of the Seine. Notre Dame is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Construction began in 1163, during the reign of Louis VII and continued until around 1345. During the construction numerous architects worked on it. Though today it appears to all flow together, the tower heights differ and the styles changed slightly over time. The carvings both outside and inside are very intricate, as are the many stained glass windows.
